10: He Didn’t Have to Be. (Who Needs Pictures)
A long-forgotten treasure from Brad’s first Album. The song tells the story of a single mother. She has been going out of dates but whenever her potentially partners find out about her son. They would turn around and run.
That’s until Brad was 5 years old when he would meet the man who would become his father. The song is about how Brad wishes he will be at least half the dad that man was to him and of course how he didn’t have to be a father to him at all.
After 20 years this has become one of my favorite Brad songs and the song I’ll most revisiting from the first album. So this forgotten gem rightfully takes its place on our list.
